Sunday Pic of the Day

Grandson Bode finished rodeo season with a smokin' fast 4.5 seconds steer wrestling run during final performance in Pendleton, OR. Montana cowboys did well in the steer wrestling, as Bode's traveling partner, Quentin Wheeler of Baker finished second and Bode finished third in the average for three go's at the pretigious Pendleton Roundup!

Hell, we were there, always a good show. Well done Bode.

The John Colter Run Saturday morning was enjoyed by 300 trail runners/hikers during a gorgeous sunny Sept day, with views of Missouri headwaters area similar to what was experienced by the Corps of Discovery. The photo of back of my GFHS 63 shirt shows the trail headed down to bottom of a gully, but as you look across you will see a long trail back up to the top of another hill. Some of incline is mostly hiked, other than by elite younger runners who impressively charge up those steep trails.
This annual event is so well established and supported that trains stop all over Montana so that the schedule will allow for runners to cross the tracks at Trident at the beginning of the run. The run ends with a Gallatin River crossing at Headwaters State Park, featuring live music, burgers, beers, and other beverages. I run (If you could call it that.) wearing my shirt to honor GFHS 63 classmates who are gone and can't be there for the race and my Vietnam Vet hat to honor those fellow Veterans who are gone and no longer enjoy Montana days.
I am proud of the trophy earned ... but realize once entering the 80 to 89 age group the competition significantly diminishes. For me, crossing the finish upright is a WIN!

That may be true, but it certainly doesn’t diminish the achievement of your finish. Opposite, in fact- you’re out there doing it while many others no longer can (or will).

Nice job!
