Sunday Pic of the Day

Yeah apparently we have them in MA although they are incredibly rare.
Never saw a rattler growing up in MA. They were identified as inhabiting a local range we used to hike in frequently.
Thought you were relocating to Michigan?

Yeah apparently there are some in Blue Hills and in Quabbin

Closing tomorrow then moving in 2 weeks.

I think you are right. I had heard of timber rattlesnakes and eastern diamond and I was not sure if they were the same. I have since looked them up and confirmed that they are different.
Very different. Eastern diamondback is the largest venomous snake in North America and about 2x the size of a n average timber rattlesnake. They mostly prefer dry ground whereas Timbers can often be found in trees or in water. Due to their darker color and preference for trees and water, we used to call them “rattling water moccasins”. Pretty sure a bite from an eastern diamond is more likely to be fatal than a timber rattler as well.
