Caribou Gear Tarp

Sunday Pic of the Day

We are about 8 miles from the fires in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, smoke is getting pretty bad. Just after sunrise this morning. Not much wind today but the fires are drifting our way. Not too worried at this point, there is a lot of country in that 8 miles.

In fire-speak 8 miles is nothing.
Understood, thankful for cooler weather and higher humidity. I would love to see the wind shift back to prevailing sw.
For now we watch the ridge top. 3.5 miles and 3000 feet above us. Our go bags are ready, Irrigation lines are set. I’ve two creeks on the property but only one with enough water. Gas powered pump will run about 6 hours. Sprinklers hit the side of the house and barn while giving us a 40 foot perimeter. Start it up, turn the horses out to the west and get the hell out if the fire starts down the hill.

Same smoke, but from the other side of the river.

Forecast is calling for some rain Wednesday. Praying it’s a big dump with no lightening.
