My son made a venison shepherd’s pie for us tonight. He’s been staying with me while his company is on WFH. For those watching the gun break-in / cleaning post, we also went shooting today and he cleaned all 6 guns afterwards. It’s good to be the king!

This must have been the largest Mountain Caribou in history. I shared a lot with the crew when we got home from BC. And though I've been munching on him all winter, it seems the freezer is just as full as when I pulled out a roast last week and another back strap and flatirons this week.

I tried the crowd-pleasing stuffed pheasant poppers. They didn't last long but they were a great way to cook two-year old pheasant breasts!

Sadly I'm cooking up the very last piece of backstrap from my 2017 cow elk. The vacuum sealer I got several years ago is the best thing ever. No freezer burn whatsoever.

Grass fed beef strip steak, scalloped potatoes, esparagus, and horse radish sauce. Did the steak for a half hour in the smoker and then seared it in cast iron.
