You're gonna have to elaborate for me?swamp cooler
I never knew what they were either when I lived in the Midwest either. Don’t feel bad. Cheaper way to cool a house. Box with blower fan and a small water pump that pulls water from the reservoir and pumps it up over a type of screen. Water trickles down through the screen while the fan pulls air through it and blows the cooler/damp air through the house. Work best when there is a window open at the opposite end of the house to pull the air through the house as the fan actually pressurizes a small house pretty well. “Evaporative coolers” are another name. Basically cools through evaporation. I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow when I’m cleaning it out again. You're gonna have to elaborate for me?

Before you think one would be nice to rig up, they don't really work very good in high humidity climates like Illinois. Now you learned 2 things today! That's interesting. Learned something today.
The drier the climate, the better it works. That's interesting. Learned something today.

Yep. They weren’t even on my radar in MN and ND. I got to learn about them quickly after my MIL asked to help her set hers up for the year. Then I went and bought a little house with one.The drier the climate, the better it works.
What kind of bears was he looking for? Polar bears? LolTwo weeks ago, my son decides to head out to see if he can find a bear to kill, he calls me and says he's stuck, tells me, I can drive almost to where he is, says he can't get it out. Mind you, he has a six inch lift on his Jeep and has a 10k winch on the front and all the gear he needs. He tells me he needs help cause he can't get it out. So I jump into my truck and head to where he says he is, I get within two miles from him and that snow is about two feet deep, and my Cummins is a heavy pig, so I park it, and the pup and I start hiking. I arrive to where he told where he is, only to find out, he turned off onto a spur road that was a snowmobile trail, the center was nice and hard, but the sides, well, soft as heck, and he slide off and buries it. I was a little ticked off at him, then realized when I was his age, I'd probably done this myself too. He did try to winch himself out, but with his inexperience, while winching, he kept pulling the trees over as he was attaching the strap to high. But I showed him how to properly attach them and it took about an hour of winching and resetting winch points to get him out, it was a good learning experience for him and he learned that his first mistake was driving where he shouldn't have and being by himself.
