My wife shot this buck this year and had it officially scored yesterday...

I didnt have a tough time knowing it was a buck worth going after, but as always I was unsure of the score.

Just for fun and to improve judging eyes...how about some guesses on net and gross scores as well as over-all length, prong length, and maybe first mass measurements.

As always, hard to tell without something for good reference. A straight on view would give more help on mass measurements. But, here goes.

L - 15 2/8 and 15 0/8
p - 6 4/8 and 6 6/8
b - 6 0/8 and 6 0/8
c1 - 7 0/8 and 7 0/8
c2 - 4 1/8 and 3 6/8
c3 - 2 2/8 and 2 2/8

Gross - 81 7/8

Net - 81 0/8

L 15 2/8, 15
P 5 7/8, 6
B 6 5/8, 6 5/8
1st 7 1/8, 7 1/8
2nd 3 6/8, 3 4/8
3rd 2 2/8, 2 2/8

80.5 gross...after adding it up, I think I'm low...But those are the numbers I gave him at first glance.

after seeing the front view, I think I missed his bases and 1st by 3/8-1/2" a piece..great buck

Bigfin,

Sorry about the lack of the front on photo:

That's a great help. I stand corrected. Those bases are better than I thought.

L - 15 2/8 and 15 0/8
p - 6 4/8 and 6 6/8
b - 6 4/8 and 6 4/8
c1 - 7 0/8 and 7 0/8
c2 - 4 1/8 and 3 6/8
c3 - 2 2/8 and 2 2/8

Gross - 82 7/8

Net - 82 0/8

Regardless of where it ends up in official score, it qualifies for the "Shoot Now, Ask Questions Later" Book.

Congrats to your wife.

This buck fooled me a bit on one measurement...the length. I was pretty confident it was an all-time B&C buck when I found him in early August and woud have bet money he was no shorter than 15, and I thought he was 15 1/2.

The official numbers are:

Right Left

Length 14 6/8 14 4/8

Prong 6 2/8 5 6/8

base 6 5/8 6 6/8

c1 6 6/8 6 5/8

c2 4 1/8 4 1/8

c3 2 6/8 2 5/8

Total 41 2/8 40 3/8

Gross 81 5/8

Deductions 1 1/8

Net 80 4/8

Either way, Pat is pretty darn happy to take another awards book antelope.

I would guess around 79-81....... got a 74 with the bow.... that has the same length about just weak on the prongs and mass..... overall an awesome trophy....
Matt

From the photos I would have guessed higher, but I knew what you told me about it's size earlier this year. That's really an awesome buck and neat that she got it after the opening day.

Buzz did you tape him out when she shot him, just wondering how much shrinkage. From the trophy pic of the right side I would of guessed 83 to 84. A great buck, with sweet prongs, congrats.

Welcome to the club. I know a lot of guys who misjudged antelope this year, though not many were disappointed in the outcome regardless. I shot 2 that I expected to be around 85 gross, both were in the 81 range, but sqeaked into B&C awards at 80 and a smidge over. Pronghorn bucks that size are fantastic and regardless of how many you look at, they are tricky judging. That's an awesome buck! Congrats again.
