The Portland Freedom Fund, which last month posted
bail for a man who is now accused of killing his ex-girlfriend while out on bail, is prepared to pay Mohamed Adan’s full $20,000 security amount that prosecutors are seeking, the fund’s co-founder Amanda Trujillo said Wednesday.
A week after the fund posted 10% of Adan’s bail, police found the mother of his children, Rachael Angel Abraham, 36, strangled to death and stabbed in her Southeast Portland apartment. Adan, 33, is now in custody, accused of murder and strangulation.

Adan had been arrested Aug. 10 on a warrant alleging he had cut off a GPS monitor and entered Abraham’s townhouse on July 26. He faced the no-contact order, a family abuse protective restraining order and additional allegations of strangulation and attempted assault against Abraham from earlier this year.
Before Adan’s release, Multnomah County prosecutor Mackenzie M. Ludwig had alerted the judge to what she described as “significant lethality factors” involving Adan in arguing to keep Adan in custody. Those included, she said, an increase in the severity of Adan’s physical violence, his alleged threats to kill Abraham, who had recently left him, and repeated violations of court orders including ditching his GPS monitor.
