RIP Ted Turner

Among a lot of stories about Ted, I remember after his divorce from Jane Fonda, he decided to have four girlfriends. They each lived in a different Turner location and were allocated one week a month with Ted.
I bumped in to Ted and Jane( local vernacular) once in the Museum of the Rockies. They scowled at me.🤣

He lived a long full life. I respected his commitment to preserving large tracts of land in a nearly natural state.

While I have never competed in a horseback field trial on any of his properties, he made his land available to host significant field trails on his various properties.

Sounds like all of his ranches had conservation easements, great forward thinking.
A public road allows travel through the iconic Flying D Ranch and over a pass down to the trailhead and campground for Spanish Peaks Wilderness. The ranch's Spanish Creek Basin is one of the most beautiful open meadow wildlife and bison basins on earth. Considering the ruination of the West Fork of the Gallatin drainage and the commercial carnage of Lone Mountain, the conservation and protection of the upper Spanish Creek and Cherry Creek drainages is most certainly a wonderful forward thinking gift.
