RIP Charlie Kirk

Ive been a fan of Charlie Kirk and his work, regardless of if I agreed with every little thing he said. It was a political assassination because of the work he was doing to change the minds of young kids, which is a huge demographic to the democratic party. Between this happening, and the woman on the subway, its a warning sign of the current sad state of affairs in our country. People have been extremely radicalized by the media and politicians.

I absolutely watched his video and the video of the subway woman. I force myself to watch it, even though I really don't want to. Keep your heads on a swivel regardless of political affiliation or race.

Pray for his wife and children.

I see a lot of posts making this about the evil of the left, but I don’t think you can separate this from the broader picture of the mental health crisis and performative violence in our country. Someone who is mentally well does not murder someone they disagree with. Full stop. Just like someone who is mentally well doesn’t go into a school and kill kids. There has to be more action to address this, not just thoughts and prayers. We can’t just accept that this goes along with owning guns.
It starts at the home. Shitbag parents that don't raise their kids create this. Cars aren't responsible for car wrecks, forks aren't responsible for making people fat! I've never seen a gun walk itself into a bank and rob it? It's a people problem. People need to learn to deal with stress, anxiety, depression etc. Everybody has it. It's how you deal with it that makes the difference. Being hopped up on medication isn't the answer.

Not sure who pulled the trigger. Not sure what the shooter had for breakfast or if they are even political. Might be. Might be like the Vegas shooter and we never quite know.

I prefer hunting forum topics here at this website.

I can soak up plenty of political topics over at the news websites. Sports topics over at ESPN. Shotgunning of opinions on everything over at Reddit.

Can threads like this that have zero to do with the concept of "On Your Own Adventures" be placed in a separate sub-forum which is sandboxed so does not spill into the "New Posts" listing of active threads? Plenty of places to cheer on your political team in an echo chamber no matter what political team you like to cheer on. Pushing actual hunting threads over to Page 2 is not helpful.

I’ve been grieved in my heart since I heard the news , being an older guy I knew of him just from shorts on YouTube of him debating on college campuses, never saw a pic of him not smiling, I wasn’t a follower or subscriber only saw bits and pieces over the last year or 2 and it hit me hard , someone took his life , but someone stole a father and husband from a wife and children over opinions and thoughts! Totally F’d up …… unacceptable………. RIP Charlie

A certain group of people have blood on their hands. 31 years old with 2 babies and a wife. I loved Charlie. All he wanted to do was have an open dialogue with people, challenge them on their beliefs and push them towards God. I'm sick to my stomach. May he Rest In Peace and may his family, friends and colleagues find Peace.
Group? You are part of the problem as well.

The shooter has blood on his or her hands. A society that allows this divide has blood on their hands. So unless by "group" you mean everyone, which you don't , you only add to the divide.

I think there are quite a few parents on this forum who have had children deal with severe mental health challenges that would take issue with your characterization. I’m happy for you that you haven’t had to deal with anything that surpasses standard stress and sadness, but acting like it isn’t real sure hasn’t worked so far.

Charlie kirk and I are both 31 years old, both married, with two kids, both on the right side of the political spectrum. Both have our own opinions and beliefs. The first thing I though of when I saw he passed was "somebody has to tell his kids that daddy's never coming home".

Stunning what this once great nation has become.

Between a broken medical system and social media I think lies a lot of the answers. I’m almost 3 months into trying to get a c pap. Seems like not a big deal try sleeping maybe 4 hours a night for a year it has an effect. Most of us on here realize how proped up/fake the social media hunting is imagine if hunting wasn’t your thing. Guy could be a gym rat and all he sees is “natural” guys juiced out of their minds or some rich kid running around in dad’s planes and cars. The medical stuff I’ve had to deal with lately the doctor tried had to diagnose me with depression. He was shocked that I didn’t have any of the “symptoms” for it.

I hope you can get one, it’s been life changing. Wife said I would hold my breathe for 30s at night sometimes while sleeping.

I’m currently trying to cut some weight to help as well.
I had other things going on also that was all kinda feeding each other. The first part took 6 weeks to get dialed in after I told the doctor he either writes the script or I’ll go buy what I need myself. The c pap has been almost 3 months I take my second sleep test next week which I was told is the same as my first test but this is the doctors. It’s been quite eye opening for me and kinda shows how we have found ourselves here

Yesterday when this happened CNN first reported that one of Charlie’s fans must have fired a gun in excitement from the crowd and hit him. ALL new outlets should be held accountable for what they put out to the public. I hope that statement increased his widows net worth by a billion dollars. It’s ridiculous to me that any major networks should need to be fact checked but if that was a thing we wouldn’t have any new networks

I have a shitbag cousin. Montana and the world would truly be a better place if he died. I wouldn't cheer for it, but I'd shrug my shoulders and move on with my day. It would be one less woman beater, one less meth addict, one less burgler, and one less all around horrible human. He has never contributed a single positive thing to our family, society or the world. He had great parents. His sister is very smart, kind and successful. Some eggs just hatch rotten.

I agree. The two sets of best parents I know (they are not mine) both had one of their children commit suicide. Mental health can be so much more complicated than bad parenting.

I wasn't a fan of Charlie Kirk. Most of his content that was shared at me seemed more like curated clips to make liberals sounds stupid than attempts at genuine discourse, but perhaps that reflects more on the people who shared it than on Kirk himself. We shared a faith, but our journeys in that took us to dramatically different conclusions about most things. But my heart breaks for his family. I have a daughter about the same age as his son, and I can't imagine the pain his wife feels every time his son calls for "dada." My heart also breaks for the children and families in the Evergreen High shooting. My heart breaks for our country, because we have chosen leaders who will amplify the most vile rhetoric and drive division that leads to this. This feels like the beginning of an even darker turn.
