The 2nd Amendment was written to protect the 1st Amendment. Now it has been weaponized against that most fundamental of things, our Free Speech. This is chilling.

Did I or many others agree with Mr. Kirk and his worldview? That doesn't matter one bit right now. He had every right to speak, on a college campus no less, where ideas--no matter how controversial--are supposed to be freely and safely discussed.

My heart breaks for our country.

I unfortunately watched the video very early and knew the outcome before it was announced. He and his family are in my prayers and I really wish they would scrub it from the internet. His kids will forever know the evil that ended his life is memorialized forever. Knowbody should ever have to see something like that. I pray for everyone. The violence and evil that exists in this world is horrific!

My FB feed showed me the page for his scheduled event at MSU shortly after this happened before it was announced he was gone and the amount of comments that were happy about this was disgusting. I just hope all those people were not from around Bozeman and Russian bots instead. I believe it’s since been removed.

It doesn’t matter who’s right, we can have different beliefs and love each other.

I feel like we have been fortunate that the last decade of heated politics that there has been relatively little political violence. Now with the Trump attempt, the assassination in MN, and now Kirk, it feels like we might be slipping back to the violence we saw in the 60's and 70's. I hope not.

Don't watch the video. Nothing has affected me like that in some time.

I gave everyone the warning first post. My guess is a mixture of a few people getting time outs then a possible lock. My goal is to keep it open and just give vacations.

In addition to that - i cant imagine his wife/children being in the crowd to watch, and later reliving the moment digitally.

I just saw that his wife and children were not there but learned about him being shot by the news. I sincerely hope they never see that video.

I was busy training my retrievers when someone sent me the video. I was distracted a bit with the dogs and opened it up. I wasn't prepared for it and now I can't hardly get it out of my mind. I sure feel sorry for his young family.
