If Trump/R's had any intention of actually cutting the deficit, your assertion would have some merit but they don't. They're canning employees to fund a tax cut and that's it, the deficit will continue climbing and you won't hear a peep from them until there's another democrat in the White House. Don't take my word for it, just look at the R's budget proposal. It sucks that Govt. workers are facing layoffs, when i was young, I faced it all the time, cant imagine what i would do at my age now.....that said, something has to be done about the spending & debt or else the house of cards will collapse & it will make the 29' depression look like a cake walk.
This is what happens when the people start believing that Big Govt exists to take care of the people instead of people taking care of themselves.
They gotta start somewhere.....If Trump/R's had any intention of actually cutting the deficit, your assertion would have some merit but they don't. What is the alternative?

And the tax cut they have planned will greatly INCREASE the national debt. Far more than the tiny amount saved so far...some of which will cost us in the end too.If Trump/R's had any intention of actually cutting the deficit, your assertion would have some merit but they don't. Now you stop it, that kind of raw truth is going to get this thread locked! If Trump/R's had any intention of actually cutting the deficit, your assertion would have some merit but they don't. When you look at one of them federal budget pie chart thingies, you realize that there is no one place to make pain free cuts that everyone will agree on. Can you give me an example of a bloated contract?View attachment 365758
Maybe the "somewhere" to start should actually be somewhere with enough cost to actually make a difference. If they fired literally every federal worker, there would still be an annual deficit of $1.5 Trillion. Take that in for a second. Maybe start with bloated contracts instead of the people who administer the contracts and make sure they aren't taking advantage of the client (us).
Just curious - but have you looked at the balance sheet? It isnt gov employment thats killing us.It sucks that Govt. workers are facing layoffs, when i was young, I faced it all the time, cant imagine what i would do at my age now.....that said, something has to be done about the spending & debt or else the house of cards will collapse & it will make the 29' depression look like a cake walk.

Depends on the pendulum swing....How many pages do you think this thread will be up to in 4 years?![]()
I'm not a miracle-worker. I can't make the willingly blind see, so I don't really have any hope for convincing you of anything, but for anybody that is actually willing to consider evidence:When you look at one of them federal budget pie chart thingies, you realize that there is no one place to make pain free cuts that everyone will agree on. Billions of Dollars Wasted: The Navy's Littoral Combat Ship Nightmare
What You Need to Know: The U.S. Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program is widely regarded as a mistake in hindsight due to persistent maintenance issues, cost overruns, and an unclear mission profile. Designed as versatile, multi-mission vessels for near-shore operations, the LCS was intended...nationalinterest.org
