I already posted this in a topic in SI, but figured that it deserved its own thread.

A new bill introduced in the Idaho legislature on Friday proposes to set aside 25% of the non-resident quota for deer and elk tags to hunters who have contracted the services of an outfitter.

Here is the link. Read the last paragraph of page 5 and the first half of page 6: http://www.legislature.idaho.gov/legislation/2009/S1232.pdf

Classic case of the entitlement mentality among the outfitter industry.:BLEEP:

Outfitters already get set a side tags here. The most rediculous part is that they have not been using them. In lots of cases clients were getting tags out of the general non-resident tag pool and not the outfitters tags, thus preserving the outfitters tags for even more clients.

It is currently at a max of 25% as is stated in that piece of legislation. I think the only reason that piece of code is listed is due to a proposed change with some bighorn stuff in the rest of the code.

Hmm, interesting. That piece of legislation seems to be a catch-all that has a bunch of unrelated stuff lumped together.

My guess is that they are asking for deer and Elk just to ease into it. No problem right? then in a couple years they ask for moose, then goat....

Maybe the current set aside is just a G&F rule and is not legislated? Doesn't make any sense to me that it is repeated in this legislation.

For some reason, I am not surprised. If ID would poll MT resident hunters, they would find out what a stupid idea this is.

Hey Moosie, how about getting them to set aside a few tags for clients of mortgage brokers. Just think how many clients you could attract if you received some guaranteed tags for the clients of your business.
