2021 MT Moose
2026 MT Mountain Goat

Technically they aren't once in a lifetime because I know several people that have drawn multiple goat and moose tags
If you look at the odds and talk to the people that apply they are more than once in a lifetime. You are also bucking the odds.

Four of my own tags in the past 24years in MT.

2003 Moose
2007 MtnGoat
2022 Mtn Goat
2022 Bighorn Ram

Wife drew a Bighorn Ram in 2006.
Wife drew moose in 2018.

We’ve held four good LE bull elk rifle tags in the family and two good LE mule deer permits in that time frame.

Great thing for me is I’ve got a pretty good pool of friends who have let me join when they’ve been lucky enough to draw.

To date I’ve been on at least ten mountain goat hunts , six bighorn ram hunts and three moose hunts.

I get to tag along on at least one more mountain goat hunt and a great rifle elk permit hunt this fall.
Any bison?

I will up it to 1 tag in 30+ years of applying every year in Washington as a resident for M/S/G. Finally drew my goat tag in '24 only because the WDFW screwed up the draw and generously allowed those that drew to keep the tag. Would have been an issue since the screw-up didn't come out until I had the tag in hand. I think there were 14 total goat tags in the State that year and this year as @Irrelevant stated above, only 7 tags this year. Yeah, odds suck but can't draw unless you apply.

I was counting on Montana bison this year. I bought a new rifle just for that hunt. Was I ever disappointed (draw results, not rifle).

That makes two of us. Be better FWP.

Your rifle is nicer than the muzzloader I bought when I finally figured out being bitter about the Heritage season isn’t going to make it go away and I might as well join in.

If you want to drool, do a search for the muzzleloader @Hem is building.

Took me exactly 20 years to draw my Idaho big three. I've had a couple of kids get lucky in the draws with my son and daughter drawing Moose tags the same year I drew my sheep tag. My son got lucky and drew sheep his first time putting in. Our household has not drawn a OIL tag since 2019. Thankfully we have been able to punch every tag we've drawn.20240507_203635.jpg

It’s a rare enough occurrence that I look forward to any close friends drawing a moose, sheep, or goat tag about as much as I want to draw myself. Just getting to go along on one of those hunts with people I enjoy hunting with is an opportunity that doesn't come along very often.

After my sheep hunt in 2019, I had to make the choice of returning to WV to watch my daughter play middle school volleyball or going with @Mica Man on his goat hunt. I returned to WV. I still regret missing out on a hunt for a goat in a unit that is primarily wilderness. I am sure the pack out would have been grueling, but what an experience I missed.
