Phishing attempts…..show us what they have tried

I am getting these twice a week snd all have Philippine phone numbers. Keep blocking and submit phishing to carrier but new numbers keep popping up.

I have a cybersecurity business that works with companies to develop security programs and test them. Sadly, we get plenty of calls for help after the fact and the pain is real, both financially and emotionally. I can't overstate how proud I am to see this group talking about it and sharing what they are coming across. A lot of them seem silly, but those crooks are still lining their pockets with other peoples hard earned money. I'll see if I can drop a few winners in here!

IT WAS THE MANAGER OF PUBLISHERS CLEARING HOUSE!
I won the whole damn thing. All I got to do is send some money for taxes and fees and in a couple of days I'll be sharing a cup of coffee in my living room, with good old Ed McMann as he hands me that big old giant check

My parents got a slightly more sophisticated Amazon phishing email and fell for it. No money lost, but they gave their bank info over and had to close everything down and reopen new accounts.

My wife got a text for a free resort vacation and called the # to play along. About 10 mins into the extremely sketchy conversation, my wife:
“Hey what’s your name?”
“Uh, we don’t give out that information.”
“Oh, really? If that isn’t f—-ing convenient.”

You can always submit complaint to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. I've sent a few in the last 6 months.

Wife and I dodged a bullet last Thursday. The good news is my wife got a new car. Things went south when she tried to add the new car to our insurance. On our insurance card there are two numbers to call. One for making a claim in big bold print and one for billing/new accounts. She called the billing number, but since the card is old and a bit faded and my wife's eyes are not what they used to be she mistook a 6 and for an 8 in the number. Call went straight to a scammer. There were a lot of red flags on the call but she made the call so she gave out some information. Soon though she had enough of the prying questions, and hung up, but not before the scammer had our bank account info. Smartly she called the bank right after hanging up and put hold on our account. She then called the claims number and sure enough the agent at the insurance confirmed that they would never ask for the info the scammer was wanting. Luckily for us no money was lost and we now have new checking account. It could have been a lot worse.
