With 18-hours of day length, things happen fast this time of year in interior Alaska.
Ice is now officially out on the Tanana River at Nenana.
The Nenana Ice Classic has been a guessing game for over 100 years.
At $3 per guess, typically the winners guess within the second.
The clock is attached to a tripod on the river ice, when the connection breaks it is officially Ice-Out and the
winners that guess the correct time are awarded the pot.
Last year, 18 Nenana Ice Classic winners took home $9716.72 each.
