I think the sturgeon must be running, LOTS of people fishing around Loma Mt on the Marias river. Five empty boat trailers and 3 others with boats still on at the boat ramp at woods bottom on the Missouri river a mile up stream on the mouth of the Marias . All the Camp spots full of shore fisherman. At Loma the highway bridge there was no parking spots left.
We went to Fort Benton 20 river miles up stream and dropped the mud boat, and took the trailer and the kids truck to Woods and snuck it in to the last parking spot for trailers. Used the 'Burb to run back to FB. Took off in the mud boat ran the 4" water just down from the ramp and fished down. Not another fisherman. No walleye not even a goldeye. My son did get a smallmouth bass maybe 17" long but lost it at the net. We , as in they, got a good amount of northern pike. Most small but some nice ones.
I had one bite...

Any day on the water with pole in hand is a good day.
That Pike would eat most of my trout for dinner.
Lets face it, Mr. Big Sky” has set the bar pretty high.
It’s like having Mike Voigt at your local shooting match. Suddenly, everybody is trying for second place.

That looks like a very enjoyable day on the water. Really wish I had a boat. Perhaps someday, in the mean time I can dream.
