Im heading to my trailer in the driftless region for the weekend. Plan is to boat some walleyes in the morning then scouting/ mushroom hunting after that. Doing back strap on the grill tonight and whole chicken on the grill for Saturday. Should be a good weekend.

Wife and I are looking at property and house in that area on either side of the river. Going to make some trips there next month

Did some trolling saturday morning by De soto and froze our asses off. The wind and the cold was terrible. I even had my insulated hunting gear on. Managed to boat 2 short walleyes and my boy lost a nice one. Line broke right at the knot. I guess thats a learning lesson for him to make sure to tie a good knot. Trying to warm up we went for a walk on the islands for mushrooms but didn't find any, wich was fine because we were still cold so time to go in and get a hot lunch. Sunday morning we fished Off the wall at the Lynxville dam. Hoping for some bluegills we ended up with a couple small bass and one perch. I think the cold front was really working against us.

I was listening to an old Joe Rogan Podcast with Steven Rinella this morning and they talked about how often times hunting and fishing is not fun when you are actually doing it, but when you return home and reflect it brings positive thoughts. I always say, no matter how cold, wet or nasty it is it is still better then work!
