Walk straight into the FWP office and make them do it. I’ve had too much go wrong with online sales.I've been buying licenses and tags at the same store for 40 years. Today I was told everything is going internet. Not a fan. mtmuley
That means a trip to Missoula. Highly avoided if possible. I am officially a pissed off old guy. mtmuleyWalk straight into the FWP office and make them do it. I’ve had too much go wrong with online sales.
Neither vendor where I am offers this program. It's either drive 50 miles or do it online. Don't like being forced to do things online. mtmuleyRetailers need to update to a new system to remain in the program. Many are choosing not to due to the costs involved.
License Ambassador Program | Montana FWP
License Ambassadors are businesses that sell FWP licenses and permits to their customers. These sales happen via the public Online Licensing System (OLS) portal.fwp.mt.gov
I’ve had tags not show up and was forced to use my replacement tags. It’s worth the drive to have the tags in hand.Neither vendor where I am offers this program. It's either drive 50 miles or do it online. Don't like being forced to do things online. mtmuley
The online version is no cupcake . I just applied for bg combo and elk and deer permits , more questions every year for donations to this and that and then do I want to donate to block management and blah blah . Takes a PHD to fill out apps anymore . $1,578 for a bg combo with pp and bonus points .Neither vendor where I am offers this program. It's either drive 50 miles or do it online. Bad . Like every yearI wonder how bad the drawing process will go? mtmuley
Missoula bound I guess. I'll try to time the traffic to my advantage. mtmuleyI’ve had tags not show up and was forced to use my replacement tags. It’s worth the drive to have the tags in hand.
Seems the “new” system is merely self service access to the same FWP site we’d access from home. Retailer has to setup new computer system to basically allow you to do it online from the retail location. Progress.Neither vendor where I am offers this program. It is. And like DFS stated, the new system has flaws. I liked all my tags in my pocket when I left the vendor. Time to move on. mtmuleySad to see old traditions fade away.
Is there a donation request on there for MOGA or UPOM yet?The online version is no cupcake . Are you still purchasing at an FWP office? mtmuleyI understand your frustration @mtmuley I quit purchasing in store once they quit printing on the good yellow tag paper. Been using either TerraSlate or Rite in the Rain waterproof paper we have at work. My gripe was the credit card fee. I’m over it, it’s probably less or near the same as the gas to the store anyway. I will hold off becoming the grumpy man like you until they do away completely with paper tags and have to use the app. I hate apps, seems every company has their own and I just don’t want all of them on my phone lol.
@8andcounting it gets better after the first year. Once you have it filled out once the next year you can select “same items as previous year” or something like that and it will select everything you purchased/applied for the previous year. At least for us residents.
Yea the whole comment section on Facebook lit them up for this. I can see both sides but have a hard time thinking wardens are on a witch hunt today being Sunday. Still seems like a very solvable problem by just allowing license sales to begin last week sometime OR a grace period of a week to renew this week.Went to F&G headquarters in Missoula last week since we were in town running errands. They would not sell the new licenses until Monday. Since today is March 1 our old license/conservation is no good. I asked the lady if there would be an issue for trespassing on the first since they won't be open until the 2nd. She thought about it and said we would be illegal. But we could go online to get what we need. The entire licensing system in Montana is F'd up with darker days to look forward to. Gotta go to Missoula tomorrow anyway so back to F&G for more frustration.
