I was hunting my stand last evening when all the rabbits on my left side vanished, usually there are 6-8 feeding in my Food Plot keeping me company. After a few minutes I see something way out there, using my Binoculars I see it is a nice size Bobcat grooming itself. It gets up and starts walking dead away from me as I get my rifle up, adjust the scope to 14X waiting for it to turn. At the 150 yard point it turns slightly quartering back my way as I touched off, hitting the cat in the neck. Almost no damage to the cat! Most of the time I have to kinda piece them together after the 300 Win Mag gets through with them.
Louisiana has allowed us in recent years to shoot one per year and I see 3-5 each year, so I try to get one each year. She is not nearly the biggest I have taken, but I stuck her in the freezer until I decide what to do with her. She measure 42" and had a pretty pelt. I may just pelt her out as a hanging trophy. John

Nice! I think when done correctly they make one of the neatest mounts.

That's a cool bonus to a deer hunt. I hope to call a few of those in while predator hunting this winter.

Very nice! My BIL saw 4 over the weekend. Hope IN authorizes a season soon. I'd love to have one.

She's about the size of the deer down there... ;)

I'd tan it and hang it on the wall, especially if you already have a nice one.

That is an awesome bonus! Grats!
You do your own taxidermy work? I bet that would be a great pelt! Would it be placed on a wall or a coffee table? You have me gun happy for a bobcat pelt though I have a feeling if I came across one, being a first, I would do a full mount of it starting a leap from some brush or a rock.

I'll have to pm you for some of your secrets. I think I've only seen one hunting - maybe a few others while driving... What an awesome pelt that would be. A linx would be pretty nice as well... Man, now my mind is wrapped around some unique small sized cat hunt.

Congrats, John!

A lot different type of area that I am used to seeing them in. Most I have encountered have been in the deserts around lava flows and junipers. Sure wish I would have spent more time listening and watching dad take them in the early 60's, but I was a teenager back then...
