New shotgun on way.

I liked the Outlander better than the Ultima, but the Outlander safety is an accident waiting to happen. If you walk around with it on a sling , keep an eye on it.

Picked it up today and a couple boxes of 00. Fired off a couple quail loads, sweet as they say. Love the sights.
Sling came with the swivels in mail. Gotta find a light...Simms slip on for no recoil, not much really as is. A bit more length.
Might be fun to go tactical on the prairie dogs , 66 today warm enough soon.

I own an A300 for a beater waterfowl gun and shoot a 1301 tactical as well, both are very reliable and soft shooting. You chose well.

If it were me buying a shotgun specifically for home defense I’d probably go 870 or Mossberg 590 with ghost ring sights. A good semi auto like the Beretta is just as reliable as a pump and reduces recoil, but they are more expensive.

Youth 870 is what I've been thinking. Should've bought one back when they were cheap. Sheesh.

I’d probably be more inclined to go with the mossberg than the recent production 870s. The last 870 expresses made before the buyout were pretty rough. If you happen across an 870 police magnum they’re a much better made gun.

I'd buy an older one if I do it. Not a mossberg fan personally. Seen two of them blow apart. Probably go 20 gauge for the wife. God forbid she ever had to use it. I remember drooling over the 870 Marine magnums as a kid in shooters Bible. Extended mag in stainless finish.

Been scratching my head on a shotgun for the house. Seems semiautos are again considered acceptable, I have shot Rem. 1100s for a long time with nary an issue. Have various shotguns - each with a purpose - but not really a good one for HD. The "Trench Sweeper" that came from my father-in-law's estate might not be the best moniker for a gun in front of a jury, a semi auto is starting to get my attention.

20 gauge buckshot would work nicely. That 870 youth is a very good idea in that case.
