Picked up a Howa 1500 Gameking package in .270 today at Sportsmans. Vast improvement from my Husqvarna in .270, and I sure won't feel as bad as beating this one up.
Don't know that the package kit the rifle came with (base, rings, and a Nikko Sterling scope) is any good so I was perusing the aftermarket bases and rings. I saw that Nikon has thrown their hat into the ring, don't recall seeing them when I worked retail at a gun shop 8 years ago.
What is the go-to these days for bases and rings? Seems like there are tons of "tactical" options out there, but I didn't notice too much for bolt guns.
