My take on the election: I can vote for a big spending, government expanding elitists that will be beholden to his special interests or I can vote for a big spending, government expanding elitists that will be beholden to his special interests.

Regardless of the outcome next Tuesday, America has already lost the election.

Maybe the one biggest difference between the two candidates boils down to who they truly are and who they might truly represent. Obama, we don't know sheit about his true identity or beliefs, but we do know he represents the welfare scum, the illegals, and the Muslims. Romney, we know everything about his background, his beliefs, and the fact that he doesn't support the welfare scum, or the Muslims.........we still may be on the fence about his position on the illegals, but I'll take his position on the ones we do know about.

A GOP candidate in Georgia has the best suggestion for a Federal tax change, that I've heard, and it's a reiteration of something that was once suggested by Ross Perot and Ron Paul. A national sales tax that would replace income tax. That would mean that everyone in the country would pay the same tax, regardless of income, job status, legal status, or social class. The lowlifes wouldn't be able to avoid it and the wealthy would have to pay it just like the middle class. In actuality, the wealthy folks would probably pay more, since they would likely spend more with their disposable income and therefore have to pay more in sales taxes.

So you are saying that it is not the president's fault, but the congress' fault? Please explain. If it is the fault of the congress, then isn't it the fault of the previous congress for the largest deficit increase during those four years thanany other previous congress? Help me understand why it is W's fault then, but congress' fault now.


Not making an argument, just asking for an explanation. Aside from the Looney Tune comment this thread is somewhat a good read.

I'm saying it's the fault of both the legislative and executive branches, not just one. Congress appropriates money, so the profligate spending is their responsibility. It's President's duty to craft a budget that can get enough votes, or at least serve as a starting point for serious negotiations. Neither have done this.

The way that congress is set up, you have to have 60 votes in the Senate to move anything forward. Unless there is a super majority in the Senate, the Democrat agenda is totally blocked, same goes for the Republicans.

Personally, I think W deserves a lot more credit than he gets when it comes to foreign policy. I do think that Iraq was a boondogle that didn't need to happen, but it wasn't W standing alone when we sent our best and brightest into that morass. Congress was right there inputing the PIN on the credit card. It was Congress who oversaw the largest growth in government during the W administration (DHS, etc) and it was congress that killed any sense of bi-partisanship that would have normally occurred if politics weren't so politicized.

But I do agree with Nemont that neither candidate seems to have the stones necessary to really lead this country in the direction we need to go.

You are an idiot if you want to refer to other people as scum. Not every welfare recipient is kicking back and drinking keystone light. Some are incapable of working due to no fault of their own.

I don't like paying taxes or seeing abuses of the system but you are never going to eliminate the need to help some people. Also name a conservative that didn't want
"their" medicare and social security because they "paid" for them.

Ever live in a country with a national sales tax? I have as I resided in Germany for 6 years, knocks the crap out of those least able to afford and those at the top don't care because they don't come close to paying what they would have under a progressive income tax.

You show your idiocy further by holding onto the birther issue. I don't think Obama's background is much of an issue, if it was team Clinton would have dug it up and he would have never been president. Clinton's machine combed through all the details and could make anything stick.

If you truly believe in the American dream then Obama has lived it in person. A poor half black kid growing up in America in the 60's, 70's and 80's making it all the way to White House, that stuff doesn't happen anywhere else. If you were voting just for one's life story that would be the one vs Romney's born to privilege and making more money. Easier to climb the ladder of success if you start at the top.

We don't vote for life stories though and if you cast a ballot for either of these two then it is on your conscience what happens. I will use my vote to vote for a worthy candidate.

Care to make a bet right now as to whether or not if Romney is elected we will have a higher debt and not a single social program will be eliminated? No fricken way is he going to touch Social Security or Medicare as he has already stated.

Hope nobody in your family ever accepts medicare or social security as they would be come "scum" in your eyes.
