My 2020 Iowa season

Well I struck out on both my Wyoming tags. Was planning 2 trips out west this year. Now on to plan B. Going to take the wife to the black hills in south Dakota for a vacation. Then taking dad and the boys to webster south Dakota for a fishing trip in September. Dad has been wanting to go there for years so I guess this is a good time.

Had a few deer enjoying the nice morning in the backyard. Not a very good pic as they were just about to walk behind the trees. I guess I only got one in the pic.

Had trouble with the small boat this spring. Finally got it out and put some carb cleaner through it. Running like a champ now.20200712_132140.jpg

Time for some updates. It's been crazy with work and home life lately. I didn't take alot of pics over vacation because it was a slow week for fishing. I also managed to pinch a nerve in my hip so that slowed me way down for a few days.

A few Mississippi river pics with the wife

Made it out trout fishing 1 morning. Hooked into 3 fish but all 3 managed to spit the hook right at the bank. Yeah that's my luck but was still fun.

Also found some very promising deer deer sign in the yellow river state forest.

Made it back to the cabin over labor day. Didn't get any fishing in but did do some scouting before deer season.

Usually do a potluck on holiday weekends but a few friends have had covid so me and the wife just did our own thing and fried up some fish.

Fire tower trail, red oak and saddle loop are my go to trails for training to hunt. I start down on the bottom of the hill on Donahue rd and go up to the fire tower then do one or both of the loops! I’ve seen big deer in there if you decide to hunt there let me know and I will point you in the right direction.

Been crazy busy with work. Want to give a quick update. South Dakota fishing was awsome. Me ,my dad,and 2 boys rocked the perch. Limited out both days within 2 hours.

1 days limit gut and gilled at the boat ramp.

Was crazy windy. After the perch we searched for walleye or northern. Didn't find either.

A few other pics.

About 120miles from home the bolts came out of the side bunk on dad's boat trailer. I had wire in my truck but sitting on the side of the interstate dad was in a hurry. Duct tape to the rescue. I thought there is no way this is going to last long. It made it the rest of the way.

I've really been neglecting this thread. A quick update and more details later. Today is the last day of our early muzzle loader season . My dad and 2 boys tagged out earlier this week. I just filled my tag this afternoon. I will post pictures and a few details later. In the meantime I need to get this deer butchered up.
