Here we are starting another year on hunt talk. Already been on a few outings that didnt pay off very well but still had a ton of fun.

January 1st made it out on a pheasant hunt. Walked some public with only 1 bird flushed out ahead with no shot. The birds are getting really smart as it gets late in the season.

Onto January 2. A buddy met me at my house at 6 am. Off we went to drill some holes in the ice.

Lake number 1 was clear lake.

Between the 2 of us we caught about 30 small perch with no keepers. After that many small fish its time for a change.

Off to lake number 2. Crystal lake.

The clouds moved in and started getting windy. After about 2 hours and drilling holes in about 6 different depths along weed lines and out in deeper water we only got a few small crappie and 1 border line keeper. The 1 went back into the lake. Once again off to another lake.

Off to lake number 3. Rice lake

Well the wind picked up even more but we are still going to give it a shot. After trying a few different spots we ended up with about 10 small perch and 1 keeper. That 1 also went back in the lake.

Made it back home around 5 pm. I still have fish in the freezer so I'm not to bumbed about not cleaning fish. We still had a ton of fun for the day.

Im not doing much today. So as im sitting here in my sweat pants and watching Walker Texas Ranger I decided to get the debit card out. Im planning 2 antelope trips to wyoming this year. First trip will be the family doe hunt. Myself, dad, and 2 boys Connor and Devon. Just put in for the draw with unit 73 first choice and 69 as second choice. We hunted 73 last year with all 4 tags filled and had a blast. Do to other hunt dates I picked 69 for 2nd choice do to the opening weekend.

His wife also likes to hunt. So after buying a few points we're going to put in for the same unit it all started a few years back. Now this got my wifes attention. She doesn't necessarily like to hunt but told me she wants to ride along. I'm all in with that. I want her to walk, crawl, and sneak on every stalk I go on.

Well I made it out on the ice. Trying to keep it simple I left the hut and heater at home. Big mistake, with cloud cover and 10 mph breeze I froze my ass off. Gave it a good try Saturday but didn't even get a bite. It was still nice getting out.20200111_095651.jpg20200111_095655.jpg

Drake gets a little tired on our outings sometimes.

I was hoping to get back to the river ice fishin but rumor has it the water came up and we can't get in the ice.
10 went up to above action stage up to 620.9’ 9 is steady so far. They are still ice fishing on 10 but you have to cross 20-30 feet of slush before you get to good ice. Fishing hasn’t been good with the crazy water
