2017 was a good year for me. I didn't put any big sets of bone on the wall and ate a few tags, but enjoyed the freedom and experiences that come with getting out and "adventuring."

My first hunt of the year was my 3rd annual weekend trip to Alabama to hunt hogs. A lot of hiking and hunting resulted in us coming across a sounder in the last hour of the last day. I fried the little ones up, bone in like a chicken.

Turkey season here in Indiana came next. I have terrible luck with turkeys, and this year was no different. I had several gobblers get within 100 yards this year, but never had one close the distance.

In October I went to Wyoming for an antelope hunt. This one went pretty well.

We got some snow..

And had one day to try and fill a whitetail doe tag. Didn't see any whitetails, but took a pretty hike.

After Wyoming, it was time to get after whitetails here at home. I saw a few good bucks this year during archery, but never had an opportunity at one. I took a doe during archery and another during firearms season.

Made my first trip to Arizona in early December. Saw lots of deer, usually 30 or more per day, but only 3 bucks. One was foolishly passed early in the hunt, one didn't present an ethical shot, and one was missed by my hunting partner. I really enjoyed this kind of hunt though, and will likely do a repeat sometime in the next few years.

And finally, some of the fruits of my "labor" now that 2017 is basically a wrap.

I hope that everyone else had a good 2017, and that 2018 will be as great or even better.

You had a good year, lets raise a beer in hopes 2018 well be just as good or better. How'd those little piggies turn out? I'm afraid I'm fool for passing on the little ones last time I went down and hog hunted...

They were really good. We were a couple miles into the wilderness area, makes for an easy pack out too!

Very nicely done!! A backpack squirrel hunt in the the Deam has been on my short list for a while. I need to get that checked off soon.

Great thread! Thanks for sharing. Enjoyable format to follow along with your, year in review.

Looks like a great season. Congrats.

Was that a coues hunt in AZ? I'd love to go on one and have the points for it. Just gotta do it.

I think most of us would consider your season very successful.

Great pictures. Thank you for sharing and a great hunt does not have to end with a kill !!!

Yep, an early December hunt. If you have the points for a late December hunt I'd be willing to bet the bucks would be more visible.
