Just thumbing through the wolf regulations, and noticed that the season will stay open through December if the quota isn't met during regular season. Should be a fun way to burn up December for those of us that don't run cats.

If the season happens I'll be very interested to see how quickly the quota fills up.

Did you notice if you can bate the vermin? Also, I figure shoot the one with its tale the highest...likely the alpha varment.

No bait, sounds or hounds. Have to hunt them the old fashioned way, with your eyes.

They've reached a point where they need to be managed.
Game numbers are still good, but if we don't start wolf management soon, some herds are going to be in trouble.

SS, even though you guys have as many wolves as anybody, I'd consider your neck of the moods more of a management problem than a wolf problem.
Had a young wolf in the headlights on the interstate just East of Tarkio about an hour ago.

Randy, 250 was starting to slide before the either sex seasons where put in place. Your mostly right though, had wolves been taken into consideration as a killer of elk, I doubt we'd be where we are today.
The calf to cow ratio though is in serious trouble. That's mostly predation. The last Bio here told me that wolves don't have an impact on elk numbers, and that we weren't even killing the recruitment. NO Wonder he left here! You could say he was wrong headed.

It really bothers me that John Vore was able to get away with what he did. He has no business managing this states wildlife. I wish there were something that could be done about him (is there?) and feel sorry for the people in the kalispel region, i cant imagine their hunting future isnt in trouble with that SOB at the helm.
