Its nice to have a 3 day weekend but this is a day of remembrance of all those who put themselves in harms way for all of us. Please take a few moments this weekend to give thanks to those who have given ultimate sacrifice.

We all have heard Taps but the words are powerful as well.

Day is done, gone the sun
From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest
God is nigh

Fading light dims the sight
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright
From afar, drawing near
Falls the night

Thanks and praise for our days
Neath the sun, neath the stars, neath the sky
As we go, this we know
God is nigh

Next time you hear the bugler, maybe these words will ring through as well.

I posted this in the past but I believe it is important for us to remember ALL those who have gone before us. I hope you will share as well.

"My dad was WWII combat vet in Pacific Theater as rear gunner/mechanic Dauntless Dive Bomber Ace of Spades squadron. When he passed years ago, I was shocked at the Marine contingent that came to funeral to provide the Honor Guard. Somehow they knew he was WWII combat vet and the reverence for WWII combat vet, the honor and the Taps was heart wrenching but beautiful in a way I can never describe. My dad's discharge record was there for Midway and Marshall Island campaigns and the Marines were so reverent discussing the history. The Marines were so respectful and reserved it was my honor to receive them.

IMO, the respect and honor for all those who put themselves in harms way for us is completely lost upon this generation, the media and previous Administration."

Thankfully this administration embraces our past, present and future of our military.

God bless all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and their families.

Amen!

Memorial Day in Bozeman is a day to reverently remember and revere those Vets who have passed and to give thanks for the blessings of celebration in their honor.

Breakfast at American Legion.

Meet with other Vets at 8th & Main to march in parade.

Gold Star Family memorial at The Wall.

Beverage & Burger Bonanza with ol' recluse Marine Vietnam Vet buddy at the Hauf.

'See ya at the Hauf for a hearty quaff!

My Dad was an Army WWll Vet. He was wounded but all he would say was he didn't remember, it was a scratch. He never spoke of his service except to say he was just a typist.
My Father in Law was a combat Navy pilot and instructor. The only stories you would ever hear from him related stories of instructing the new pilots.
I was a Combat Support National Guard and thankfully never had to witness the horror of battle as our unit was never called to active duty.
This is the day I relate back to all my buddies and relatives from the Vietnam era. As my generation dies off it is our responsibility to pass on the History of our family and friends and what this country was built on.
Our flag stands for what we are. Fly it proudly not just today but everyday.

At the cemetery on the hill near the beautiful park in Bozeman over 2600 flags are placed on the Veterans' graves to honor them on this special day of reflection.
Montana reveres and remembers Veterans as it is a top state with a high percentage of the population as military Veterans, a great many who perished during tours of duty. Native Americans take pride in five times the national average of percentage of citizens who have served in the military. Montana's tribes reflect that pride.

Bozeman area Veterans organizations collaborated in acquiring the permanently emplaced replica Vietnam Memorial Wall, with kiosk to assist in locating the name of a fallen soldier, sailor, or airman among the over fifty-eight thousand names etched on that Wall.

Memorial Day ceremony included honoring the Gold Star families of the Gallatin area. Behind the Wall is an impressive monument emplaced to recognize and honor the Gold Star families and the loved ones they have lost.
