What is your data that suggests they would fetch more than that? Are you factoring in that there would be a massive shift in supply?Another sign you dont know much about wyoming elk hunting when alot of these tags would sell for much more then 4k
Its a double edge sword. I know of this exact situation where there is 3,000 acres of private ground where all the elk hang out where the landowner cant barely get any tags so therefore there is no pressure. and all the public land hunters including myself sit on the public and watch all the elk on privateAbsolutely![]()
If it worked that way, but LO licenses are unit wide with no stipulation the tag be used on private surface, which is almost unenforceable given the mix of federal state and private all fenced together.and could benefit the public land DIY hunter by having more hunting pressure on the private grounds that are next to public.
In some states they have to hunt there own private land and I feel if something like this would get approved then that would need to be the case.If it worked that way, but LO licenses are unit wide with no stipulation the tag be used on private surface, which is almost unenforceable given the mix of federal state and private all fenced together.

And a separate capped allocation. But at the end of the day, I feel we have went far enough down the slippery slope of monetization and I don't care to go any further. In some states they have to hunt there own private land and I feel if something like this would get approved then that would need to be the case.
Again. Waiting until just before the season starts to buy one doesnt reflect true market value.
Considering your tag as a resident cost 57 dollars I guess I know which side of the pool those lo tags should come from to benefit the state if they are gonna sell them at nr price. I have 3 bull tags right now for 25 and im sitting on 12 points for elk in Wyoming. You guys are already pushing a 90/10 split and people are starting to bail push this thru and put your boot on the nr throat harder and it will become a revenue issue eventually. As it sits when I draw I’ll probably walk away from Wyoming.Simple. Make the price the LO pays for the tag from the G&F the same as the NR tag fee. The LO can then pass that cost on to whoever buys the tag from them, should he desire to sell it. I would argue that LO tags are a gift from the Residents of the State, same as NR tags, and should be valued as such. Particularly if the LO desires to sell it.
The outfitters are already finding guys with enough points to party up for clients and paying for guided hunts in general area. I’ve had people email me offing to buy my tag if I’d apply with them. A general elk tag for Wyoming would probably go for over 6k pretty easyAnother sign you dont know much about wyoming elk hunting when alot of these tags would sell for much more then 4k

12 pages in. Anyone's mind changed yet?
Would LO tags help a DIY Hunter on public land? How?
Mine has I was holding for a glory tag. If someone can get me set up to party my points and guarantee over 350” let’s talk12 pages in. Anyone's mind changed yet?
When I started the big game draw tag wormhole back in 2015, buying a LO tag or supporting them was completely off my radar and never would have voted yes back then.Since Monday? Probably not.
Compared to a few years ago on HT? Absolutely changing. This thread would have been absolutely mayhem just a few years ago. Heck, we have a HT moderator mention he buys them, despite the very thought of LO tags being “against everything HT stands for.”
Slow change can be hard to notice, but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
For sure they help: step one for some of us to go on a DIY public land hunt is getting the tag in the first place, which is often the most challenging part.
That’s where LO unit-wide tags are a game changer.
What is your definition of DIY?
