have a great Utah archery elk tag with some real potential for big bulls and pretty decent Idaho general archery elk tag.
hunted the last two weekends in Utah, expecting it to be pretty much scouting with a bow, given the early dates , but we got into some action. When I say we I mean @YZF-88 actially drew the same Utah tag it took me 19 years of trying. It has been fun dreaming and scheming on this one with a partner. Usually with those Primo high points tags you’re always a solo tag holder/hunter but not this year.
This afternoon I’m headed in the unit with plans to be there through the season clothes on September 16 if necessary. Current prognosis is mid to high 70s for the next week which kind of sucks. We’re getting right to the full moon now. But we’ll be hitting it hard. See what we can dig up in the next two weeks.
Obligatory photo on the way to the unit today, followed by a handful of photos from the last couple of weekends of hunting.
With this particular tag I plan to be extremely patient. And not just run after every nice looking six point.
Another hour we will be glassing in some of the spots we have become familiar with during several scouting trips in the last couple weeks of hunting.
In the last 10 days have managed to blow up a limb on my bow and crater the eyepiece on my Swarovski spotting scope Fortunately I’ve got both back in action, the bow was repaired with used limbs that a guy overnighted to me and spotting scope thanks to this Swaro rep who overnighted a loaner eyepiece to me well mine goes back for warranty, consideration, and repair.
