How do I keep from drawing multiple states when only wanting to draw a tag or hunt a out of state area once a year. How do you keep from doubling up on hunts? I'd like to draw a Montana deer tag next year if possible, but they don't have bonus points to buy, just put in and hopfully you don't draw till next year, then you get a PP. I have a trip planned for this year and can't do 2 out of state hunts in one year. They did tell me I would have a 20% chance of drawing this year thats why I'm nervous about putting in. Any help how to acheive this?

Your best bet not to draw is to just apply for the deer tag in MT. MT odds are going to increase substantially this year!

Put in for MT and hope you com up empty handed. If you draw you lose points but can send the tag back and get 80% (I think) of your money returned. Deer tag odds from last year:

0 points-20%
1 point-43%
2 points-53%
4points-62%
5 points-80%
6 points-82%
7 poiints-82%

For some states, there's no way to garantee not too double up. Just have to take the chance, course with my luck I'm not terribly worried about that.

I would think that the odds on a Montana deer tag are going to be MUCH better this year than they have in the past because of the price increase.

I actually had this problem last year drawing a Wyoming elk tag, and New Mexico elk, antelope and mule deer tags and I tried to fit in hunting on my own property here in Texas into the mix. Needless to say my wife wasn't very happy by the end of the year.

Pick the same hunts I do...wont be a problem.

I only wish, just one time, I could have that problem (hopefully with conflicting sheep tags).
