We’ll never saw a ling. Caught some real nice brown trout. We stayed till the bass moved in then called it a night

Caught my first burbot on early ice in December. Anyone have tips on the best way to clean them? I tried the peel the skin back with a pair of pliers and it was kind of a pain in the butt on the bigger ones.

Use the gutless method. Just cut a strip of meat off each side from along the spine. I don’t mess with them but lots of people do.

Tis the sweetest of seasons once again.

Threw half a dozen little ones back tonight. Kept some of the better ones or those that swallowed the bait as well as a rainbow that decided to dine on sucker meat this evening.

Kind of ridiculous it’s above freezing at 10pm in late December.

Annual resurrection.

Caught 7 ling and one rainbow in about 3 hours of fishing. Kept 3. Most were pretty small.

When I first posted on this thread 11 years ago, I spent most of those nights helping kids catch fish. Reel it in, land it, get it off the hook, rebait it.

Now I just watch them from the fire with a beer in hand, and I appreciate the now and miss those days too.
