Hornady describes difference between ELD-X and ELD Match

Hornady just had a podcast on Youtube that describes the difference between the ELD-X and ELD Match. Some of you might be interested to know their take. NOTE: it was more about what the differences are instead of saying what people should use.

All the animals I’ve shot with the Eldm looked like you could have rolled a golf ball through them and most went bang flop

I have shot a lot of animals with AMAX bullets which I believe are the same as eldm except for the type of plastic used in tip. Great bullets. Soon trying th3 147 eldm in my 6.5

I’ve been real happy shooting stuff with ELD-Ms muzzle velocities ranging from 2400-2700fps

147 and 162 eldm’s have been absolutely sinister in my 6.5 creed, 6.5 SAUM, and 7/08 respectively.

Have a new 1-8” 7/08 barrel waiting in the wings and will be trying the 180 eldm for the first time.

There's been some reports that the 180's don't behave consistently like other ELDMs. And also that newer stock ELDMs aren't as consistent as those from one year+ ago.

Safest bet is to go with the new heavy TMKs. Waiting on the 7mm 185’s myself.
