Adventures with the 257PRC

What bullet/velocity have you settled on and have you shot anything with it yet?
Hammer HHT 127gr. at 3327fps. Only punched paper and rang steel with it so far, though.

Currently working up loads for a 20” 25-6.5 that I’ll probably take on my annual Alabama rut hunt, though. At 2825fps so far with the 127gr. HHT but I suspect I’ll have a couple grains to go before I see pressure. Also going to experiment with the 95gr. HHTs and see if I can scare 3400fps.

@Sheltowee, did you use the WTO 25-7 PRC reamer or was yours tweaked from that? I see that WTO has headstamped ADG brass now.
No, my smith tweaked dimensions just slightly and commissioned a custom reamer. Glad to see WTO is selling properly headstamped brass now. I picked up 100 pieces a while back.

Have the quarter bore circled with a Roy and a naught 6...but man, a 127gr spinning at 3327 sounds lethal.

And, as a proud Texan, you can buy one ready to go from the boys at West Texas Ordnance out in Terry County!

Alternatively, I can put you in touch with my smith here in Colorado that built my 25-7 (and my .257 Ackley, and my .25-6.5PRC, and a .338-06...). He builds boringly accurate rifles-- no real fun in working up loads because all of his barrels shoot.

You sir, are an enabler. :)
