Griz or Black Bear?

I've seen many grizzly, none looked like a black bear. Try opening the close Pic with lens and see what mister Google calls it. The head is no way dished and no pronounce hump.

I think black but I’m not certain enough to pull the trigger in a hunting scenario!

Grizzly sow is my feeling.

94% sure that is a giant black bear. There are no visible claws in the first picture.
One thing is for certain, that isn't a sow of either variety.

Based on my Etsy Bear Identification kit, it is a black bear. Despite Etsy, I wouldn’t shoot it unless I got additional confirmation after seeing its claws.



A long time ago, I passed on a bear and let my brother shoot it because I thought I was looking for something bigger. As we approached it, it grew in size, and since we were in country frequented by grizzlies, I had a sphincter tightening experience until I was able to see its claws.

Ive never seen a brown black bear but I have seen a regular black bear and im pretty sure thats a griz and im pretty sure im not gonna chance it and shoot it.

Asking this gang of deer hunters how to identify a bear is pretty amusing. I’m not going to interject because the guess have me busting a gut over here.

Definitely black bear, but I'd be hesitant to shoot based on the pictures where I hunt.
