I questioned the miles city office about the quota and they said they had some record counts and everyone they have talked to was excited about the number of antelope they were seeing. Basically got told to stfu. They have a pretty good system if you aren’t seeing what they are seeing you didn’t try hard enough. Everyone is concerned about getting a tag and have short memories. Quota was probably double of what it should have been. Until the public understands that overwhelming an area with tags privatizes wildlife nothing will change.

I have seen more antelope in my limited travels out East recently.
That doesn't mean squat. A few more than rock bottom still isn't good.

Well, I’ve got the 700 South tag. Had success out there in the past, thinking about driving out for the weekend now that it’s not the opening day war zone or a blizzarding mud pit.

Actually worse than that if you got one you could get a doe tag and if you add in the north of the river tag there was 12k either sex tags and however many additional doe tags.

People make there own luck. For hunting starting about 10am on opening day practice shooting on targets moving at 60 mph

I realize MT has more antelope, but for comparison, AZ awarded 343 rifle tags in the entire state.

Still scratching my head about why they added another 150 tags in one R6 unit even as they acknowledged poor fawn recruitment last year. Thats an overall doubling of tags in that unit over two years, in an area with poor recruitment over several recent years.

I really don’t get it.
