In 1854, my 3x Great Grandfather, James Inman Steele traveled by wagon by the Split Rock Landmark in Wyoming.

Being fresh from England, he was noted as saying, "One can't swing a dead cat without hitting a pronghorn around here."

Today, I was near the Split Rock landmark.

Grandpa spoke truth.

Pretty cool to have a 167 year connection to the land you are hunting. This fall in northern Wyoming I was hunting below a little burial plot on a knob that holds remains from three distant relatives who died just a decade after the Civil War ended.

I suppose that we non residents will have a harder time drawing tags in Wyoming as more hunters want a piece of the action.

I grew up in that country. It's an amazing piece of heaven. Nice buck & much better eating that a nasty old bear. ;)
