I'm gonna make my nova my dedicated waterfowl gun. I've been using factory chokes that work ok but since it's gonna be strictly for fowl was hoping to get a good one. I've considered kicks, Indian creek, and patternmaster. Does anybody have one thst works really well for them with steel shot?

I've found that factory chokes work just fine. If you are using large steel shot you will probably find a better more consistent pattern using a imp cyl than you do with a mod or full.

My buddy has a pattern master and loves it but I've never saw a pattern from it. I do know its hell on turkeys with #5 lead though.

Two kinds of chokes that I know of. The most common are the restrictive chokes that get tighter patterns by squeezing the shot down at the choke. It works but it has a tendency to also lengthen your shot stream. Although on paper or a still target it can look great but on a moving target you actually might get less shot on target as you lengthened your shot stream to get a tighter choke. Both Pattern Master and Wad Wizard chokes also shorten your shot stream as well as tightening up your pattern. I have used both and prefer the Wad Wizard but they are both really good. It does make it harder to hit but when you do the results are fantastic. For Geese the Wad Wizard Supreme is great. I will be getting another one soon. I also have had the SWAT for over decoys. If you dont want to spend a bunch of money on chokes and are shooting nothing but steel, the IM is about the best all around choke diameter I have used. If you have any questions shoot me a PM. I used to Pro-Staff in the waterfowling world back in the day and gave it up to spend more time with my family.
