Oh I get it , I see the reason not to post units . I have gotten help in DM's , I was just pointing out the limitations of actual topics we have available .
I'm not upset , just giving my two cents , for what its worth .
I don't think this decision is about spot jacking/asking so much as it is about some of the policy forums that have gotten out of hand.
One person will make a popular point, and then perhaps someone else steps on and provides a counterpoint. If that counterpoint isn't as popular or challenges initial assumptions, the gut reaction is to say something pithy and mean, or to let someone else say something pithy and mean and then pile on with the likes. There's this strange "yeah, I got you!" mentality that goes with taking someone else's views and reducing them to an ad hominem attack.
People don't like to be wrong or worse, called out for being wrong. If there is a tribe behind them that doesn't want to do the intellectual work and is willing to just pile on, it drives away differing opinions and viewpoints. Why try to change minds or provide different perspective if the reaction is just going to be getting trolled by those that think it's funny and cute?
I applaud this move. It equalizes the voices, and hopefully will lead to more fruitful conversation with more people willing to speak now that they don't have to concern themselves with tribalistic pushback. This community deserves a wider pool to learn from.
