They look somewhat similar to a rusty trombone or sparkleminnow, which I have both had great success with. I think they will fish!

Got to fish the Provo the other day. The fishing pressure was crazy and made the Bighorn feel like a back country wilderness area. However, the fishing was fantastic when you could get in a hole. Put 33 in the net and a couple fattys, including one of them infamous big whitefish.

After tying on a cheap Cabelas vice for 12 years, it is like tying on a dream. I was tying today thinking everyone should have to start on a cheap vice that barely holds a hook to really appreciate one of these things.

Had one of the best streamer fishing days I’ve ever experienced yesterday. It was fantastic. The aggressive-strike to cast ratio was like 1:3 all day long. Rain and overcast most of the day had the browns absolutely fired up from the time we put on to the time we got off.

Last month I had one of the most ill-fated hunting/fishing trips of my life, which is saying a lot, because last fall my truck brakes blew up coming down a mountain in BFE, WY.

Long story short, Sun Country Airlines lost my luggage that contained all my fishing gear and a Glock 20 on my flight to Spokane, WA. They kept saying they would get it to me the next day, until day 5 of a 7 day trip I told them to stop and just keep it in Minneapolis and I'd pick it up when I flew home. It was some mickey mouse club level incompetency, just doing things like forgetting to bring it to the FedEx pick-up multiple days in a row.

I ended up having to buy new underwear and socks every day, buy all new flies and fishing gear, rain gear etc. The folks at Northwest Outfitters in CDA took pity on me and let me use a pair of shop waders for a week for free. Can't say enough good things about that fly shop. The real positive that came out of this was I was able to get Sun Country to pay for a new Hardy fly rod, reel and line, so I'll give them credit for that. Fishing was pretty good overall! Since I only had one rod, I had to commit to the dry fly. There was very little relaxing about this trip and I think I went home more stressed than when I left, but overall it was a good time.

Ive tied for over 20 years. Never came out ahead on cost but i get the quality i want. I dont get much time to tie. Also dont get an off season here in wyoming. July is the only month without a big game season open, and in some parts of the state mountain lion season is still going then. Add in predator management, bird hunting, summer fly fishing, and winter ice fishing there really is never an off season. So i usually will tie a batch of flies that last 2 or 3 years, then on another year i will take all the rifle brass i saved for the last 2 or 3 years and load it all in one go.

I know they aren’t native (to the western US) but I’m blown away by some of the streams I’ve found them in at elevation.

Yup, picked it up from their baggage claim when I flew home. It was such a fiasco. They had to send people thru conveyor systems at Spokane and MSP to look for it cause it was supposed to be on another flight but it was sitting in their baggage claim office the whole time.

I had to call every morning and ask why it hadn’t been delivered yet. I asked if I should notify law enforcement of a potentially stolen firearm and man that got a nervous laugh out the Sun Country supervisor haha
