Anyone ever float the South Platte from South Platte Park? Was thinking of taking the pontoon and giving it a go downstream before the water gets questionably clean, maybe Union St or so.

Watch out for the needles and tweakers! Other than that it’s pretty nice. There is some riverbank construction around alameda so might want to get eyes on before you float the whole thing. The best part is you hardly see any of the city. I haven’t floated it but spent a lot of time down by the river when I worked for Denver forestry

There’s a lot of sewer plants that dump in that river. I’m not familiar with Denver much but I don’t think I’d put my equipment in it.😂

I think they are all downstream of where Union Ave is, but I'll triple check. Definitely not looking to float dirty water.

There’s towns above Denver I’m sure of it. Just a thought. It’s my line of work sewer and water systems so it’s just dumb shit I think about. By the time water is poured in a glass in Ft. Morgan it’s been through 5 people. I know. Super gross.

Pollution was so bad when I lived out there (mid 70's) that it was illegal to remove any water from the Platte, according to the Adams County coroner. With the growth the area has experienced since then I can't imagine there has been a great deal of improvement.

I have floated a sizeable stretch from around 80th ave. while a friend and I were practicing our raft racing techniques in preparation for the Creede races. Wouldn't recommend it now.
