finally the end of covid restriction

so in mid nov i left nz to visit australia as my brother has prostrate cancer, he is in good spirits so good in that department
i brought a property in a region that has axis purcinus (hog deer) a very cute and little animal which i found fascinating

Wow, that's awesome! Looks like you have plenty of deer on your property. They are big stags aren't they?

I put in for the hog deer ballot on the Victorian coast for a few years without success.

the only reason theres a few around is they havent been hunted for a while
the mature stags only stand around 70 cm at the shoulder n a good antler length is 14 inches with 16 been something special
the previous owner was there for 11 yrs and in that time shot some good heads so theyve had a couple of yrs to settle down
the farm next door used to let paying hunters in but around four yrs ago they had extreme draught two yrs in a row and the owner let people in to hunt just to make ends meet, like charging 40 bucks to shoot whatever you liked just to stop the deer from starving to death
i have a fallow hind on there with a four month old fawn and the young one is slightly higher at the shoulder than a mature stag
i have a short vid of the two most mature stags having a wee barney but we are (my ex and i) fairly thick and cant work out how to post that segment

those are cool looking deer! Kinda whitetail like in the face.
