Yep, I did put a new sling on it though, haha. One shot, dropped her like a bag of dirt and she summersaulted down the hill a couple times. I'm really liking the 150g Norma Oryx.

My son filled his final big game tag for 2025. My 10 year old daughter came along for the hunt and was such a great help! She jumped right in and help hold a leg, hold the knife, grab a game bag, etc. I’m looking forward to many more adventures with these two, and hopefully, their little sister.



The stalk worked perfectly and my son had his choice of 30ish cows. The elk had no idea we were there, even after the shot, until we stood up. If you look over my daughter’s right shoulder, you can see the herd of elk leaving the area.

So much for filling my permit with a monster. I put lots of miles on the boots and tires and I think if the season would have been 3 days longer I could have got on a mature bull. However last day of season meant that rag horns were on the table or for better words in the freezer.

Was fortunate enough to get my 30th bull and 33rd elk over all this year. All but two were from my home state and only one of them was a draw tag. Some were big and some were small, but any bull is a good bull as far as I'm concerned. With more hunting seasons behind me than in front, I appreciate them a little more these days.

2025 treated us well. It was the year of the broken left main beam for us. Lots of meat packed out of the woods this fall. Now its my favorite part of the season, cooking meals with the success of our season.

Here's the deal. Since the "Let's see them" pronghorn thread is one of the most viewed on this site, and most viewed by lurkers, I am thinking we should do the same with elk and show how many elk guys on this site take.

This thread will be a "sticky thread" and be at the top of the Elk Forum, from here on out. It doesn't matter when you shot it, how you shot it, or if you were just the person helping, this is the thread to post elk pictures. No need to post a long story, just a pic and a few notes about the hunt.

Be as specific or vague as you want, as far as location.

Here goes.

Thanks for doing this. I hope this thread becomes as popular as the pronghorn thread. I know you guys have shot a lot of elk, so post 'em up right here, even if they have previsouly been posted on another thread.

2005 - Eastern Nevada. Thanks to NVLongbow and Jereep.

Saw some really big busted bulls, but none of the whoppers were still intact. This guy was the unlikely dude who made an appearance in the final days of the hunt.
