It doesn't matter out there. They are on a irrigated pivot on private land. There is no need for a lead cow bc they will likely get chased back onto private ranch when they attempt to leave. We are living in the glory days of private land elk hunting. Congratulations Shapnel way to go.

6.5 prc with the 156’s has been breathing this week. ran in to my in laws, wasn't any bulls so set em up with my gun, tripod and some wind calls. 2 shots 2 cow elk down. Second one was giant. Think there were like 30 spikes in there so the ones without antler were the right ones as far as they were concerned.

Yeah, science and truth suck so badly... having said that, I won't be responding anymore on this thread. It's too good to junk up. A new thread on shooting lead cows would be in order... as in, "don't do it, and teach your kids and grandkids not to."

Been awhile since a Jonas post, so I figured this would be a great time to revive a thread get it back on track and share some successes.
Miss Jonas was lucky enough to pick up a pretty good bull tag this year. Through her hard work, preparation, extra range time and getting some boots on the ground. She was able to put it all together on a bull of a lifetime. I'm so proud of her and couldn't be more greatfull for the experience with her and my kids.
Hope everyone is having a good season and some success. More to come soon hopefully from Lil Jonas 2.0 and 3.0

Talk about a bull of your dreams, that bull has everything a person could possibly describe in the "perfect bull". Every tine has great length, great symmetry, nice width and to top it off, all the tines but the back ones have nice perfectly defined pearly white tips. Beyond jealous! Great work!

Got it done in Montana after a 3 year dry spell on elk. Truly a 6x5, but god's smallest kicker technically makes it a 6x6.

He was screaming before morning light. When I got eyes on him, he was pushing around a smaller bull. Couldn’t believe it, given that it was Oct 25th.

Couldn't get this bull to leave his cows tonight. Must have been one hot cow the way he was acting. I definitely was going to shoot him if he hoped the fence. Any guesses on score? Im trying to get better at field judging.
