Son shot his first elk, this calf, about 5 minutes after I shot a cow. It was our fourth day and about 15-20 degrees, he says he wants to shoot a bull this year.

It was a pretty tough year. Hunted Utah's general rifle season. My son shot a great bull in 2023 (his first elk). This year we didn't get a shot off. He had a cow elk tag as well. Got a shot on a cow, but hit her waaaay back and we didn't find any blood at all. Tracked for 3+ hours and never found anything. I had a cow tag as well and was able to tag out in January.
