I realize that this is a "western states" type site, however, I thought that this update on the Eastern sports show was interesting. It happens in Harrisburg, PA and is a very large show for the east coast. This year the Organizers decided to ban "assault style weapons" from the show. As a result, many vendors/sponsors & celebs are boycotting the show in support of the second amendment. Here is the current list of NO SHOWS & the list keeps growing.

I applaud these people for taking this stand even though it may mean loss of revenue.

RMEF just pulled out too.
MISSOULA, Mont. --(Ammoland.com)- Due to recent decisions instituted by Reed Exhibitions regarding the disallowing of legal modern sporting rifles, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will withdraw as an exhibitor and conductor of the elk calling contest from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Pennsylvania.

RMEF believes the actions taken by Reed, a British company, are detrimental to the Second Amendment and our right as Americans to bear arms.

RMEF reached this decision after careful deliberations and taking into account the stance of our members, volunteers, industry partners and fellow hunters.

We urge Reed Exhibitions to reconsider its policies to avoid a divisive and political atmosphere so RMEF can take part in an event that generates needed revenue for important on-the-ground conservation and hunting heritage projects in the region.

About the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation: Snowy peaks, dark timber basins and grassy meadows. RMEF is leading an elk country initiative that has conserved or enhanced habitat on over 5.7 million acres, a land area equivalent to a swath three miles wide and stretching along the entire Continental Divide from Canada to Mexico. RMEF also works to open, secure and improve public access for hunting, fishing and other recreation

Not going to be much of a show left.
Without Tiffany and Nicole I wouldn't attend either.

I noticed that I didn't see bass pro shops among that list of no shows. maybe they weren't going to be there in the first place. anybody have any info about them being there or not?

I heard via the internet (so it has to be true, right?) that Bass Pro Shops has also pulled out of the show. Glad to see so many taking that stand, especially the small guys. A company like Cabela's isn't going to notice the effects of this show happening or not, but a small regional company could really feel the effects of not getting the revenue from a show like this one.

Use to be biggest show in the east.Looks like this show is done for.All the small guys will attend other shows so I doubt they lose much. All the other shows will now make a killing. There has to be at least 5 shows in Pa every winter. That reed guy dug his grave doing something so stupid in Pa.We are one of the top states in hunter numbers and NRA members

Bass Pro pulled out before the show due to "parking issues".

Below is link that is updated daily for those companies and people that have withdrawn:

This is silly and a loss for the sporting community. No rational discussions on gun control. If I can't have my 30 round magazine of armor piercing ammo I'll take my ball and go home!

Once again, a loss for all of us! The more "sportsman" want to be at odds with the majority of Americans the faster support for hunting goes away.

It is certainly a loss for "sportsman" because the Eastern Outdoor Show went full retarded, not the vendors.

Why do you hate freedom so much?

Does this scare you?

Thank you to the companies who are taking a stand! That's awesome, and a very strong message.

The irony of all of this being Reed Exhibitions was the event organizer for the SHOT Show.

I have a feeling that "was" is the key word in your above statement
.
I would say that Reed Ex. may have to go into damage control mode to have any chance of doing any further Shot Shows - but then again I would be amazed if NSSF would even consider letting them organize another Shot Show.

It would be interesting when the smoke all clears on this to see a list of vendors that do show up at this show and get that out to the public - just in case they would not prefer to do further business with them :)
