Its about 50K out of my price range but it says best offers too. Is this a nice area? Good hunting?
Still looking for land. I may run down to MIssiouri next weekend to look near my buddies place.

Thanks anyway, keep your eyes and ears open if you see some nice land up for sale. 100 acres or more, unless its on water i would settle for less.

That is about 130 miles away from where my kin live. But I believe that it is close to the elk restoration areas

I am not familiar with that area per se, but I do know that it's not too far from Daniel Boone National Forest, which has good hunting if you don't mind hiking a bit to get out of the Pumpkin Patch. You're getting into the foothills of Appalachia, where the deer population is thin but has a much better age structure than in more western parts of the state. Salyersville is in Magoffin County, which is a "Zone 4" county...that's the worst zone as far as the biologists are concerned. The season is a week shorter there than other counties, and they're much more protective of does there. I believe you can still take one of each there, but I'd have to look it up to be sure. At any rate it'll be harder to find them than what's considered "normal."

It is in the elk zone, and they did expand the licensing for next year, but chances of drawing are still pretty slim.

If I were you I'd drop in to http://www.kentuckyhunting.com/forums/ and asking what folks can tell you. There's bound to be someone there from the area.

In terms of social issues, I know that people always say that jobs are few and far between in Eastern Kentucky, but I don't know if that's the case in that particular area. You can get some poop about the stats at http://www.city-data.com/city/Salyersville-Kentucky.html.
