Denver Post: “Wolverines really need Colorado”: Federal decision looms over another reintroduction plan

https://www.denverpost.com/2023/08/05/colorado-wolverine-reintroduction-climate-change/

Think it would be pretty cool to see a wolverine in the wild but I have to ask-- if Colorado is such perfect habitat for them, why haven't they migrated in naturally?
Wolverines were fairly common in Colorado before being extirpated. They have dispersed to here, although rarely. The primary reason is because there is a whole lot of less than ideal wolverine habitat between Colorado and where they avoided extirpation. Case in point, the Continental Divide on I-80 in WY:

"That’s why Colorado officials should wait for wolverines to reintroduce themselves instead of forcibly moving wolverines into the state, said Jeff Copeland, executive director of the Wolverine Foundation and a wildlife biologist who studied the species for more than 30 years."

Nah, let's just do a ballot measure and force it...
