Crappy weather tents (room to move)

I have been looking at tents to buy before next season and the 10x14 Kodiak is the one I have pretty much decided on. A lot of people recommend the Kodiak tents in old posts/threads I have found. Can use a buddy heater to heat it up in the mornings/evenings.

I have a Kodiak 10x10 and it works well for 2 with a small buddy heater. Family is starting to go with so it’s time for a bigger tent. The Kodiak is going to get sold for a 12x14 wall tent.

Our drive-in (not pack in) solution is heavy and bulky, but oh so nice. It is a Davis Tent 16x20. Plenty of room for 6, their stuff and table area to play some cards.

I went to buy a used wall tent this summer and the guy was also selling a 12x12 tipi style canvas tent, it was custom made but is almost identical to the Montana canvas range tent. Obviously I had to come home with both. Between a 14x17 MT canvas, a military arctic tent, 8 man kifaru, and the cimarron, for truck camping this is by far my favorite. Set up by myself in about 20min. Probably less than 50 lbs and room for two cots with the wood stove. I used it last weekend down to -14 by myself and it was a very comfortable setup.

I know you're using a Seek tent now but what about a bigger one with a liner? Give them a call I am sure they will find you something that will meet your needs.

Can't beat the ol wall tents in my opinion. They just have a certain nostalgia to them when it comes to late season or backcountry hunting on horses. If your looking for a lighter option obviously Cabela's Alaknak tents are sweet or tipis. The new stone glacier 6p tent looks unique as well. Good luck.

Thanks guys this is very helpful and well as overwhelming.

I almost bought the Cabela's instinct a few months ago when they were on sale and they had a 10% off coupon with some discounted gift cards. That may happen still once I get $ saved up. Ski season gear cost me a ton of money I didn't have. Lol too many expensive hobbies.

As a sidebar, a coworker's buddy has gone through 3 Alaknak tents this year due to wind. I don't know if it was a setup error, strength issue, or what but eventually the Idaho Falls Cabela's would not allow him another and gave him his money back.

That's a lot of room also a lot of dudes in a confined area...bet that camp doesn't need much of a stove just some @JohnCushman Pozole to fire up the jet engines

Interesting. We've had ours up in 20-30 mph sustained with no issues. Those Springbars are good tents though. I think you'd be happy with one if it had a stovejack.

My Nemo tent is great! It’s not free standing. Nor is it a hot tent.... I use a propane heater in it. I am looking into putting a stove Jack in it. Only weighs about 14 lbs with out the stakes. I use it backpacking with my goats and for truck camping.

That looks pretty nice. Doesn't look like Nemo sells that model anymore.

This inspires me.

Always seems like the weather hits me a couple days before I decide to break camp and I'm trying to pack up a frozen/wet tent in the middle of the weather and "make a run for it".

I'd love to buy a camper but I don't have a spot for storage nor can I always get it where I want to use it. This is for truck camping so weight isn't necessarily a dealbreaker. If possible, I'd like to take it on a raft (I run a 14' NRS) down an easy river.
It's only money and you wouldn't have to store it.

I've considered a slide in...then did their build setup and it came out to $30k
