I was finally lucky enough to catch up with a great mountain Tom here in northern Colorado. Crossing snow drifts and getting cliffed out for a turkey is definitely a different experience for turkeys. These mountain birds are definitely tough, I would have to say this is the most excited I have ever been after taking a turkey.

I was alone so not the greatest pics.

I was also able to sneak out to Nebraska and take another great tom the next weekend.

Tylerm, Congrats on the birds! Sounds like we were hunting similar country in Colo. I was climbing insane areas the other day from 4 am to 830 pm in search of an elusive N Colo mtn merriams. I struck out but came incredibly close to an outrageous bird. I will definitely be back after him and others next week. It sounds like you earned your success!

Thanks everyone, jims these N CO mountain Merriams defiantly get under your skin I never thought I would work so hard for a turkey:) You have to think about it like an elk hunt with considering to the amount of country you are going to cover, and not easy country.
