My buddy hooked a steelhead in Salmon River NY and broke off on branch. We were drifting together standing next to each other. I made cast and got hooked up with nice steelie. As my buddy was landing it for me he started laughing! My egg sack hook went thru his leader swivel opening and I "hooked" his fish. So who's fish is it really?I am thinking nobody has had this happen before. In Canada fishing walleyes, smallmouth and pike. Throwing jigs on a rocky shoreline. My son hooks a pike and gets it halfway to the boat when it breaks his line. We barely see the jighead visible in its mouth as most of the jig is inside its mouth. I had casted after him and so I was reeling my jig in near where it broke his line. I saw it go toward my jig and thought, damn, it is going to grab my jig too and cut my line. So I was a little quick on the hookset. Somehow, I hooked my son's jig in the pike's mouth and pulled it out of his mouth...without catching the fish, I recovered his jig. The only thing I reeled in was his jig, with his Gulp impaled on my jig. How many times could you try and do that without it happening? Millions for sure. Recovered the jig without catching the fish.

Man that's awesome! 57 degrees blows my mind. The local lake was 82 when I pulled out around 11am Monday.Smallies 2 weeks ago Crystal Lake, MI near Benzonia. Prob best day I ever had on the lake. My wife was reading in back of boat and couldn't believe the number of fish. I stopped counting around 15. Catch release. Several over 5lbs, couple over 4, lots 2-3 range. All on Innovations Bad Shad swim bait. They tore the crap out of them. Nobody to speak of in launch. Those stairs from launch to parking lot not fun with bad knee. !!!! Running 7' medium light rod, 8# fluoro main line. It was from 1:30 to 4:30 in afternoon. High sun, no clouds, absolutely worse conditions but yet they were in full scale attack mode. Water temp was 57° so not on beds, fins etc clean too.
My wife stopped taking pics cause she said "Enough"!![]()

It's a small shallow local lake that always heats up quick. A reservoir a bit further south is still only reaching about 65.I was thinking of going this Monday but not if 82°!!! How in heck did it warm up that fast?
How did you do?
